Meet Elton!

Elton is a 2-year-old hound mix who’s been waiting for a forever home for 4 months. He is one of the 60 dogs rescued in the Ooltewah hoarding case back in October. Because of his traumatic background and lack of human socialization, Elton is a little bit shy when he meets new people - however he DOES warm up pretty quickly, especially if you take him outside for some playtime and give him some gentle pets!

Elton thoroughly enjoys the company of other dogs, and is very active and playful. He has a rough and rowdy playstyle, so he may be a little much for more gentler dogs, but he’s a great playmate for those who don’t mind his tornado-like energy 😝.

When he’s not playing with his buddies, Elton likes to snuggle. He is a nice medium size, about 40 lbs, and would make a nice cuddle buddy on these cold and raining days we’ve been having.

Elton would do well in a home with other dogs, and would likely be ok with school-aged children. He is still learning how to “dog,” and needs a patient adopter to help him overcome any fears and obstacles he may face, coming from his previous background.

@thegearcloset now has Nooga Made stickers and part of the profits will benefit local Chattanooga nonprofit @mywaterways.

The Gear Closet has been Chattanooga’s destination for used outdoor gear since 2012 and is run by Chattanooga-based non-profit Waterways.

Waterways is a Chattanooga, Tennessee based non-profit working with communities across the Southeastern United States to bring awareness and stewardship to their watersheds. Since 2004, Waterways has been empowering individuals to take positive action in their watersheds and working with the community to restore watersheds and empower individuals to take action on a local scale.

Waterways is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization. Income from The Gear Closet, directly supports their mission.
